James Joyce, Fodido e Mal Pago em Trieste
Artigo muito interessante escrito por Luciano Mangiafico sobre a passagem de James Joyce por Trieste. Sem surpresa Joyce era o típico selvagem irlandês que só pensava em encher os cornos e bimbar as vagabundas: Stanislaus moved to Trieste toward the end of October, got the teaching job, and lived with James and Nora for close to two years. He also became “his brother’s keeper,” often going out at night to bring him back home in a drunken stupor and helping him when he got into financial difficulties – which was all the time, since James spent money he often did not have on things he did not need. Although the faithful Nora waited home with the child, Joyce was out and about often, visiting bars and frequenting brothels bearing such names as “The Golden Key” and ” The Cubic Meter.”
