Parece inacreditável que o maior filósofo do século XX, Karl Popper, tenha tido enorme dificuldade para arrumar um emprego acadêmico. Este artigo na Hedgehog Review conta a história: Hennie mortgaged their house to finance a lecture tour for him in England, at the end of which Popper hoped to have a job offer in hand. It was a miserable experience. Many of the lectures—which he insisted on delivering in halting English, even when invited to speak in German—did not go well. Nonetheless, the trip included a fateful meeting with Friedrich Hayek at the London School of Economics (LSE), who was instantly impressed and saw in Popper (at the time, at least) a potential ally for his own brand of libertarianism.
